Timber Sliding Doors

At UGS Ltd, all our doors can be supplied with either double or triple glazing, both designed to deliver outstanding thermal efficiency and year-round comfort. Whichever option you choose, you can expect excellent insulation and noise reduction, helping to create a quieter, more energy-efficient home.

For even greater performance, all glazing units are supplied argon-filled as standard. This inert gas reduces heat transfer through the glass, improving insulation, minimising condensation, and supporting long-term energy savings. The result is a warmer, more comfortable living environment with lower heating costs.

For enhanced security, glazing can also be specified with laminated or toughened glass, providing increased resistance to impact and greater peace of mind.

To add a personal touch, we also offer Pilkington decorative glazing, enabling you to choose from a variety of textures and patterns that enhance the character of your doors while maintaining light and privacy. *Energy Rating show overall energy efficiency of the product. The entire window (the frame and the glass) is assessed to allow for heat loss, draughts and solar gain, giving a rating that indicates the overall impact of fitting that window in your home. 

*The R Value Measures resistance to heat gain or loss. Example, a typical insulated wall has an R-value anywhere from 12 to 19. 

*The U Value of the glass tells us heat loss through the glass, the glass edge and the frame. *The G Value of the glass tells us how well the glass transmits heat from the sun.

Softwood

High-quality softwood timber sliding doors made from sustainably sourced species such as Pine, Douglas Fir, and Scandinavian Redwood. These materials are popular for their affordability, ease of working, and attractive finishes, making them an excellent option for a wide range of property styles.
Pine: A versatile and cost-effective choice, Pine is widely used for softwood doors. Its light colour and fine grain make it easy to paint or stain, offering design flexibility for any home.
Douglas Fir: Known for its strength and dimensional stability, Douglas Fir features a straight grain and pale reddish tone. It strikes a good balance between durability and affordability, making it a reliable softwood option for doors.
Scandinavian Redwood: Slow-grown and denser than many other softwoods, this timber provides improved durability. Its smooth texture and light colour lend themselves to high-quality finishes, whether painted or stained.

Hardwood

High-quality hardwood timber sliders are made from premium materials, including Oak, Sapele, and Accoya, each renowned for its strength, longevity, and natural elegance.
Oak: A traditional favorite, Oak is valued for its rich grain, durability, and resistance to daily wear. It offers a timeless, classic look that enhances both contemporary and period properties.
Sapele: This African hardwood is known for its exceptional strength and dimensional stability, featuring a fine grain and a warm reddish-brown tone. It's highly resistant to weathering, making it ideal for long-lasting entrance doors.
Accoya: A sustainable, modified timber, Accoya stands out for its outstanding durability and resistance to rot—even in challenging climates. It remains dimensionally stable, resisting warping and swelling, making it perfect for precision-crafted doors.

Standard Timber Profile

In the UK, the standard profile size for timber patio sliding doors is 68mm, widely chosen for residential properties. This depth supports double glazing while providing reliable thermal insulation, structural strength, and a timeless appearance. It offers an excellent balance of performance, energy efficiency, and aesthetics, making it ideal for most homes.

For higher specifications, profiles of 78mm or 92mm are available, suited to triple glazing or enhanced acoustic insulation. Whether standard or deeper, timber sliders combine natural warmth with modern efficiency and design flexibility.

Secure Locking for Patio Sliding Doors

At UGS Ltd, our patio sliding doors are fitted with high-security multi-point hookbolt locking systems as standard. These locks engage at multiple points along the frame, offering strong resistance against forced entry and lifting. Additional features such as anti-lift devices, deadbolts, and shootbolts (commonly used in timber sliders) enhance overall security. All locking systems are compatible with key or thumb-turn cylinders, and meet leading UK standards including PAS 24 and Secured by Design for peace of mind.
