However, as you add more panels or increase the width/height, structural demands, track design, and cost will generally increase.
Yes — bi-fold doors can be configured to fold either inward or outward, depending on design preference and site constraints.
In practice, if interior space is limited, an outward folding configuration may make more sense. Conversely, if the external space / garden is constrained (e.g. paving, steps), inward folding may be preferable.
- Weathered (rebated) thresholds, which have a lip that the door seals against to improve water resistance.
- Non-weathered (flush) thresholds, which aim for minimal step transition but may have reduced weather sealing performance.
- Mobility thresholds, designed for easier access (e.g. lower upstands) in certain doorway panels.
